GameSpot held its first Game Showcase on September 8th. Under the name Swipe, it was full of trailers, reveals and gameplay footage for various mobile games. GameSpot featured upcoming titles such as Rainbow Six Siege and also showed gameplay from updates to popular titles such as Total War Medieval II. We’ve collected seven of our favorite features. Some of these titles may join our roundup of the best Android games later this year.
Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth
Announced in May, initial impressions of Heroes of Middle Earth were not positive. This strategy game features characters from across Tolkien’s universe, pitting them against each other in a series of turn-based battles. The cartoonish look may not appeal to those who appreciated Shadow of War’s brute force, but we’ll have to wait for the release date before making any final judgments. You can watch the gameplay reveal trailer.
rainbow six mobile
Back in May, we went hands-on with Rainbow Six Mobile’s closed alpha. We weren’t fans of the terrible touchscreen controls, but it was still fun to play.Swipe announced a closed beta and an upcoming clubhouse map. It looks like a faithful reproduction of the non-mobile version of Seige. Before you play, pick up one of the best Android controllers. If you want to know more, Ubisoft Forward September 10th at 11:35am PT.
call of duty warzone mobile
The success of Call of Duty Mobile prompted Activision to create a new game focused entirely on Warzone mode. While the original mobile game offered battle royale gameplay, Warzone Mobile focuses entirely on it. The first teaser trailer has been released on Swipe. It didn’t show up much, but it looks like the game we were concerned about in the initial reports is finally taking shape. The new season of Call of Duty Mobile, Train to Nowhere, is also available now.
Revival of The Division
In July, Ubisoft released a three-minute walkthrough of its upcoming mobile game The Division Resurgence. The gameplay looks comparable to the console/PC version and the swipe trailer confirms this. Taking place between the events of his first two Division games, Resurgence offers an open world where players can play solo or co-op. Assuming monetization isn’t pay-to-win, this is definitely a fun game to play.
little nightmare
One of the creepiest horror games finally comes to mobile. If you’re unfamiliar with Little Nightmares, it’s a side-scrolling platformer that forces players to flee or hide from encounters rather than engage in combat. A dark and grisly must-play game. We’ll have to wait until winter to see how the port performs, but rest assured he’s included all three DLC expansions on mobile.
rail bound
Railbound may have just been released, but this adorable puzzle game is already set to receive new content. Best of all, this next piece of content is free and coming later this year, so you have plenty of time to complete the main game. This update brings more puzzles and worlds and introduces semaphores to further confuse your brain.
Total War Medieval 2
The Total War port is some of the best RTS Android games available, and Medieval II fans will be delighted to hear the Kingdoms expansion is coming to Android and iOS. It covers a huge range of historical events, from colonization to the Teutonic Wars in the Baltic Sea. If you’re hungry for more Total War content (I highly recommend giving it a try, especially if you’re on an Android tablet), this will satisfy you. Unfortunately, there is no release date yet.
