The fact that the prices of AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors have dropped significantly recently could not only be due to stronger competition, but also to various new models. In addition to the already officially confirmed Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor, there are growing signs of the appearance of three other new products: Ryzen 7 5700X, Ryzen 5 5600 and Ryzen 5 5500.
First hints at Ryzen 7 5700X and Ryzen 5 5600/5500
User unanimously reports notorious leak chiphell forum because twitter user about the previously unknown Ryzen 7 5700X, Ryzen 5 5600 (no X) and Ryzen 5 5500 models. They are rumored to be released this month along with the already announced AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D as a special model with 3D cache.
Ryzen 9 vs. Ryzen 7 vs. Ryzen 5 Specs Comparison
The Ryzen 7 5700X is said to offer eight cores at a lower clock speed than the 5800X and costs less than the Core i5-1600KF (~€280). also has a lower clock speed and a price below the Core i5-12400, which means less than 200 euros.
Cezanne without graphics
The six-core Ryzen 5 5500 is the most interesting of the three unknowns, because at a price of the Core i3-12100 (~150 euros) it is not only considered the cheapest model, but also represents a Cezanne APU with a deactivated graphics unit for the first time. The Ryzen 5 5500 should be as practical as the Ryzen 5 5600G without the iGPU, Chipell says. However, the tweet states that the CPU only supports six threads, not twelve.
Current Ryzen 5000 processors drop in price
Often the prices of the previous portfolio are corrected before the appearance of new models. The current assortment of the latest and at the same time the latest generation for socket AM4 has fallen significantly in recent days. The flagship Ryzen 9 5950X now costs just €600 instead of €700 in February.
The Ryzen 9 5900X is also slightly cheaper at €450, and the same goes for the Ryzen 7 5800X which now costs just €330. The Ryzen 5 5600X has risen in price from 260 euros a month ago to 230 euros now, that is, more than 10 percent more expensive. The Ryzen 5 5600G and Ryzen 7 5700G APU offshoots are almost unchanged.
AMD can counter Intel with price
Ultimately, however, price adjustments are also possible due to changes in the market. With the release of the Core i-12000 from the Alder Lake generation, Intel is once again increasing the pressure on AMD in the desktop segment as AMD recently had to lose market share again after multiple quarters of growth. When it comes to gaming, Intel is back in the lead again, albeit by a small margin.
Especially in the low price segment below 200 USD/EUR AMD has nothing to compete with Intel. The €230 Ryzen 5 5600X or the €215 Ryzen 5 5600G APU variant is the current-gen entry point, while Intel offers a low-cost, high-performance 6-core processor for €180 with the Core i5-12400F. With the Ryzen 5600/5500, AMD can once again have its say in the sub-200 Euro class. But the planned last offshoots of Zen 3 were supposed to be very cheap even then.
Probably the last newbies for AM4
This may already be the latest news for the AMD AM4 socket, because the release of the Ryzen 7000 (Raphael) is scheduled for the second half of the year. With a new generation of processors based on the Zen 4 architecture, the new AM5 platform is also introduced with drastic changes. The AM5 socket will feature an Intel-style LGA design for the first time. Support for DDR5 RAM and PCIe 5.0 is also a first for AMD.
The rumor he spread that Zen 4 would be released in the summer spread among Twitter users. @greymon55 recently, however, he declared himself invalid. Now he is talking about conflicting statements from two of his sources, one of whom says that there are no signs of the start of mass production yet, which at least makes a market launch in the summer unlikely, but does not rule out the idea.
If ZEN4 went in July-August, then the plant would have already started mass production, but they don’t.
