The Lost Ark: Tips and Tricks to Get Started
If you, for example, read our other guides to Lost Ark to housing, to crafts or to the endgamethen you already know that online role playing is huge. At the same time, it can quickly overwhelm newcomers with its array of class specializations, systems, and currencies. To help you get started in the world of Arkesia, here are a few tips and tricks we wish we knew before launching a few months ago.
The right choice of class
On paper, when Lost Ark launches in the EU, there are only five classes available, but they are divided into 15 class specializations in total among which you must choose one. The bad part: Most of the gameplay looks incredibly good in the gameplay trailers. Also, they all seem to prefer dealing damage. How should you find the correct class? Moreover, there is no possibility to retrain later. You can customize your choice of skills, but not your chosen specialization.

In fact, there are only three subclasses that stand out from the monotony of DpS. On one side there is the paladin (warrior base class) and the bard (mage base class), who have the strongest support abilities (healing, buffs, debuffs, shields) of all playstyles. On the other hand, there is the Pistol Lancer (the base class of Warrior) which can take a lot and can sometimes draw the attention of enemies. If you want to take on that kind of support job, these are the right ways to play for you.

Who is the best claims specialist?
If you prefer to play as an offensive soldier on the front lines, we recommend the Berserker (the base warrior class), who goes relatively slow due to his massive two-handed sword, which can be tricky in the endgame. The Deathblade, Battle Dancer, and Battle Monk are much more mobile and can deal a lot of damage as well.
Do you prefer to target enemies from a distance or with spells? The sorceress does a lot of damage, but also withstands very little. Archer-artist, sniper and gunner are also good choices. An experienced player can also get high damage values from all previously unmentioned ways of playing.

So it’s better to ask yourself the following questions: Do you prefer to play ranged or melee fighters? Is the hero male or female? And based on this, you then “play” in the classes you are interested in, up to the choice of specialization, at the very beginning. There you can thoroughly test them against hordes of monsters and bosses and make a smart choice.

Tips and tricks for pumping
In Lost Ark, you can level up your characters to a maximum level of 60 at launch. However, this is not necessary. You will unlock the real endgame at level 50 wearing a soft cap. You can reach this milestone fairly quickly by focusing entirely on the main scenario quests. You will save even more time if you skip the tutorial and cancel as many in-game sequences as possible (which is not always possible).
However, we recommend that you give yourself a little more time. The endgame doesn’t run away from you, the main scenario is also very interesting for the most part, and you will learn important basics in learning. Also: many tutorial missions (which introduce new systems), side missions, and time-limited region quests are on the way anyway. You can take them with you without much loss of time, and usually you have to turn them in at places where the main scenario takes you anyway.

During the first few hours of the game, the main scenario quests are marked with a gold double-bordered badge with a double arrow. However, this changes with the opening of the world and the unlocking of delivery. You then have the overarching quest, which will still be marked with this icon, as well as the “regular” main scenario quests, which will now be represented by the blue planet icon.
Danger: From time to time you will encounter dungeons during the main scenario. You can take them on alone or with up to three friends, and on normal or hard difficulty. In the latter mode, the rewards are slightly better, but you will also be very quick to trade these items again in the level stage. If speed is your thing, fix each story dungeon solo and on normal difficulty. If you want to get 100% Adventure Book in all zones, you need to complete every dungeon on Normal and Hard difficulty anyway. What is not worth it at all: Pumping dungeons for experience.
Account-wide progress
In Lost Ark, you upgrade not only your character, but also your account. In this way, you unlock power-ups that benefit all characters. At the same time, there are some systems in Lost Ark that apply to all characters on the server, such as housing progress, your crafting, or the mounts and pets you earn.

Travel tips and map
Everywhere in Arcesia you will come across teleport platforms. After clicking on it, you have activated this tee and can now travel to this teleporter from anywhere in the continent. Warning: This fast travel system does not work between continents! You can travel to other continents on your own ship or with an automated overseas flight. In both cases, you need to go to a port area on the continent to board a ship or book a trip abroad.
Tip: You can use the tab key to bring up a transparent version of the mini-map so you can see tripporters, quest givers, important NPCs, merchants, and more at a glance. Hold down the middle mouse button to move this area of the map. You can even launch the Triporter directly on this map view by pressing Alt and left-clicking. This way you don’t have to switch to the real map (shortcut M).

Bifrost is even more practical when it comes to travel. With Bifrost, you can save a point in the world and jump right there when you need it, no matter where it is in Arkesia. You can earn up to three Bifrost points this way. Two more are only available with an optional Crystalline Aura subscription. For example, with so many Bifrost saves, you can complete your entire daily quest routine without jumping too far between tasks.
More tips and tricks for Lost Ark
- You will always receive account-bound boxes containing countless items, but you must select one of the items. Our advice: wait until you can actually appreciate what each item will bring to you in detail or where you will need it later. For example, put them in your account storage.
- Almost all hotkeys in Lost Ark are customizable. The only exceptions are the left and right mouse buttons (can only be toggled for movement and attack) and the interaction keys G and H.
- Lost Ark supports controllers. Feel free to try it.
- With Alt + X you can gradually hide various interface elements.

- All NPCs marked with a heart on the map have a reputation that you can increase. This is possible with the help of emotions, songs, gifts or quests. However, you can only perform a limited number of songs and emotes each day. Do this as early as possible to spend as few actions in the relationship as possible. You don’t have to select some NPCs. In the long run, you can maximize all relationships.
- Try all the skills of your class and improve them. You can easily reset your skill points over and over again.
- If possible, always use F1 healing potions when leveling. These cheap F1 potions can be purchased from NPC vendors for silver. In Endgame Challenges, you are often not allowed to use them. On the other hand, the best healing potions are not available for silver, but they can be used in limited quantities in endgame trials. If possible, don’t skin them beforehand.
- You will automatically unlock PvP during the main scenario (level 26/27). Equipment will be rationed for all participants. You also have access to all skills and skill upgrades.
