The monitor innovations that MSI presented at the launch event “The Next Playground” include a first model with AUO’s mini-LED technology (AmLED). MSI is also planning various monitors for console gamers that range up to 55 inches with OLED.

MEG Artymis 341 with mini LED backlight

MSI has already cooperated with the display manufacturer AUO for notebooks and theirs AmLED technology used. Behind it there is nothing more than a mini LED backlight, which is supposed to achieve a finely graduated local dimming with numerous light zones and, in combination with high peak brightness, a high contrast ratio for HDR. The Artymis 341 is therefore certified according to DisplayHDR 1000, currently the second highest HDR suitability level of the VESA.

Details are still in short supply, but apparently the 34-inch display is in 21: 9 format, which could mean a resolution of 3,440 × 1,440 pixels. The display is curved in a radius of 1 meter (1000R), in the middle the curvature radius should be even stronger with 800R. The display is provided with a quantum dot film, which expands the color range (wide gamut), MSI calls this “QD Premium Color”. The case with its silver back and RGB-LED lighting ensures a striking look.

Monitors for console gamers

MSI is planning various monitors for use on game consoles. Of the Optix MPG321UR-QD with 32 inches, 4K UHD and 144 Hz (120 Hz on the console) is launched as an Xbox Edition. The MEG 551U, which uses an OLED display with 55 inches and 4K UHD, is even larger. MSI has not yet revealed any details. Both should appear in 2022 and support HDMI 2.1, DSC and VRR.

With the Optix MAG274QRF-QD, MSI is also launching a version of the MAG274QRF that has been expanded to include Quantum Dots. The 27-inch monitor delivers 2,560 × 1,440 pixels at up to 165 Hz. The IPS panel is specified with a 1 ms response time and should cover 97 percent of the DCI-P3. In addition to DisplayPort 1.2a and two HDMI 2.0s, there is one USB-C with DP Alt Mode and two USB 2.0 sockets with connector type A.
