JioPhone Next: Google smartphone for India costs 75 euros

Pragati OS instead of classic Android

Interestingly, the JioPhone Next does not run with classic Android, but Pragati OS (Progress OS), which is an optimized Android that has been further adapted. The basis is probably the resource-saving Android Go, because the operating system not only uses the Go versions of many Google apps known from Android Go, but also has full access to the Google Play Store and receives over-the-air updates for new features and security patches.

Focus on camera and voice control

The equipment is comparatively simple, the smartphone was developed with a focus on a good camera including HDR support and voice recognition and playback. Many steps in the operation should be able to be carried out using the voice assistant, the smartphone also reproduces the texts displayed acoustically and can translate different languages ​​live from the camera viewfinder.
