Facebook has partially met the expectations of the internet public. CEO Mark Zuckerberg spoke at Facebook Connect today to announce a series of news. In particular, Zuckerberg announced that the company is changing its name.
However, the new name turned out to be not Horizon at all. The former Facebook company should now be called Meta. Note that we are not talking about changing the name of the social network.
They joke on the net
The name of the parent company has changed, which combines the Facebook app and social network, Facebook Messenger, Instagram social network, WhatsApp messenger, Oculus virtual reality project, Workplace collaboration platform, Portal smart display project and Novi digital wallet. The corporate structure of the company will not change.
Mark Zuckerberg commented on the event as follows:
Our mission remains the same – to continue to bring people together. Our apps and their brands don’t change either. We are still a company that develops technology for people. But all of our products, including our apps, now share a new vision: to help bring the metaverse to life. And now we have a name that reflects the breadth of what we do. From now on, we’ll be targeting the metaverse first, not Facebook. This means that over time you will not need a Facebook account to use our other services. As our new brand begins to appear in our products, I hope that people around the world will learn about the Meta brand and the future we are committed to. ”
