At a meeting of Tesla management with investors, which took place yesterday, the company announced a new long-term goal: by 2030, Tesla plans to significantly increase its production of electric vehicles – so that about 20 million of them are sold a year. For comparison, according to estimates of various analysts this year the company should ship about 900-930 thousand electric vehicles. And third-quarter delivery data suggests Tesla is going to be good at it.
To increase sales 20 times in 9 years is an ambitious goal, but given the entrepreneurial spirit of Elon Musk, there is no doubt that if he does not achieve it, then he will come very close. This will require increasing the staff to at least 100,000 people. And this, in general, is not very much, since at the end of 2020 the company employed about 71,000 people.
Opening new factories is also indispensable. As Elon Musk said during the event, the company can come to grips with the issue of choosing a location for the next factory next year, and the final decision will be made in 2023. So far, different versions have been put forward about the construction site of the next Tesla plant, but one of the most frequently mentioned countries in this context is India.
