According to Videogameschronicle, citing sources close to the projects, Konami is going to return to the popular universes of Metal Gear, Castlevania and Silent Hill with new games and remakes.
The original Metal Gear Solid games are being remastered for modern platforms, while work is also underway on a major new project based on Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Perhaps we are talking about a full-fledged remake. The Singapore studio Virtuos is involved in the development, which took part in the creation of Uncharted 4, Outer Worlds, Jedi: Fallen Order, Dark Souls Remastered.
The return of Castlevania is handled by Konami’s in-house studio based in Japan. The game is described as a “reimagining” of the long-standing franchise. Sources also said there are several projects in the Silent Hill universe in development. Third-party teams are reportedly working on these games, including a “well-known Japanese developer.” According to sources, Konami has become open to partnerships with external studios after bad reactions to games like Metal Gear Survive and Contra: Rogue Corps.
It is worth noting that all of these universes have multi-million dollar fan bases. New games can sell well, as long as they are of high quality.
