Security under Windows 11: Microsoft Defender Preview in the Dev Channel for Insiders

Post a Comment

Microsoft apparently wants to test a new Microsoft Defender Preview in the Dev Channel for Windows 11 Insiders. The preview of the revised security software for Windows 11 appeared for the first time under the code name “GibraltarApp”.

XAML, WebView2 and WPF as a basis

As reported by @ALumia_Italia on Twitter, the Microsoft Defender Preview is based on XAML as well as the Microsoft Edge WebView2 control, with which web technologies such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript are embedded in the native app.

The new Microsoft Defender will be designed as an app and based on the UI framework Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) from Microsoft.

This means that the security software can be installed and updated in the future via the new Microsoft Store.

It starts in the Dev Channel for Insiders

According to @ALumia_Italia, the Microsoft Defender Preview is to appear first in the Dev Channel of the Windows 11 Insider program, which is especially aimed at developers and experienced users, and will later be transferred to the stable build of the operating system.
