Almost eight years after the Lumia 2520 with Windows RT, Nokia will return to the tablet market with the T20 at the end of October. The cheap tablet runs in Google’s Android One program and is to be provided with updates for a total of three years. Two versions are planned with only WLAN or additionally with LTE from 239 euros.

The Nokia T20 is a 10-inch tablet in 5: 3 format, more precisely the screen measures 10.36 inches and provides 2,000 × 1,200 pixels on it. The manufacturer surrounds the display with a black frame with rounded corners that runs evenly around the panel. The tablet itself is only available in “Dark Blue” and is inconspicuous apart from a Nokia logo on the back.

30 euros surcharge for LTE

The German market launch is planned for the end of October without a specific date. The WLAN model with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of expandable memory is available for 239 euros, while the LTE configuration with otherwise identical equipment costs 269 euros.

Android 12 and 13 are safe for the tablet

The equipment primarily includes the software adopted unchanged from Google as part of the Android One program. For the factory-installed Android 11, Nokia plans to provide two years of operating system and security updates and, beyond that, only security updates for another year. The upcoming Android 12 and next year’s Android 13 should be safe for the tablet, with a little luck and depending on Google’s timing, Android 14 in 2023, if the release falls below the two years.

    Hardware reflects the price

On the hardware side, the T20 has to offer rather simple fare. The manufacturer relies on a 12 nm SoC from Unisoc (formerly Spreadtrum), which combines two Cortex-A75 cores, which are no longer brand new, with six Cortex-A55 cores with 1.8 GHz each and also a rather small malfunction. G52 GPU provides. Further technical features are two cameras with 8 (rear) and 5 megapixels (front).

3.5 mm jack and FM radio

Other special features in this price range are not necessarily the usual stereo speakers and the presence of a 3.5 mm jack socket. There is also an FM radio that can be used with the headset plugged in. The 8,000 mAh battery is charged via a USB-C socket with standard 2.0 (480 Mbit / s) on the short side of the tablet.
