MX Linux 21 Release Candidate: Linux class leader based on Debian 11

The very popular Linux distribution MX Linux based as MX-21 (“Wildflower”) on the new Debian 11 (“Bullseye”) and the current desktop Xfce 4.16. The first release candidate of the operating system based on Linux 5.10 LTS is now available for everyone to test, try out and explore.

Working with Xfce, Plasma and Fluxbox

In addition to the comparatively resource-saving standard desktop Xfce 4.16, as in Debian 11 (“Bullseye”), KDE Plasma 5.20.5 is also available. Support until the end of 2026 thanks to the LTS kernel

Based on the latest LTS system kernel Linux 5.10, the operating system will receive support until December 2026 after the release. Both the Debian 11 repositories (“Bullseye”) and the MX repositories serve as package sources for new software.

Debian derivative with its own applications

In addition to well-known applications such as the free office suite LibreOffice, which is compatible with Microsoft Office, the two graphics and drawing programs GIMP and Inkscape as well as the free Firefox browser and the Thunderbird e-mail client, the distribution has its own applications.
