Google will complicate authorization for millions of users, to sign in will need another device

In May, Google emphasized that using a mobile device to sign in gives people a safer and more reliable way to authenticate than using passwords alone.

As it is now reported in the official blog, by the end of 2021, Google is going to automatically enable 2-Step Verification for another 150 million accounts. In addition, Google will oblige 2 million YouTube creators to enable 2-Step Verification for their accounts.

Google currently automatically turns on 2-Step Verification for accounts that have a backup email address or phone number. Google representatives explained:

We understand that the current two-factor authentication methods are not suitable for all users, so our team is working on technologies so that logging into an account is not associated with the need to remember passwords, but the level of security remains the same. ”

It is also noted that with the help of Google notifications, the login process should be smooth and simple: just click on the notification on the phone to verify your identity.
