The Pixel 6’s single-chip Tensor system for smartphones is unique in its own way, as it contains two Cortex-X1 super cores. Neither Qualcomm nor MediaTek has such a SoC. But, according to the source, Google is already working on a new generation SoC.

Google is already working on the Pixel 7 platform

In the Pixel 6 firmware code, the Cloudripper codename was found, which is associated with the second generation Tensor SoC. However, Cloudripper is not a designation for a single-chip system as such, and not for the Pixel 7 itself. This is the code name for a test platform for a potential Tensor 2, since it is assigned the abbreviation GS201. The test platform for the current SoC Tensor was called GS101.

What Tensor 2 will be is a big question. But if the company sticks to the current architecture, then Tensor 2 could get two Cortex-X2 super cores, while the top next-generation platforms Qualcomm and MediaTek will have one each.
