At the beginning of the year, Donald Trump’s accounts were blocked on most major American social networks, including Twitter. And now the former US president decided to try to challenge such actions of the companies.

Donald Trump sues Twitter for blocking his account

Trump has filed a lawsuit on Twitter, claiming that the blocking violates his rights under the First Amendment to the US Constitution. In addition, according to Trump’s statement, Twitter violated the latest Florida law – and the lawsuit was filed in that state – on social networks. Specifically, that law prohibits social media companies from blocking Florida politicians. However, in July a federal judge issued a preliminary ban on the law, noting that it violates the right to freedom of speech of private companies that have their own rules and conditions for serving users and posting content. As a result, the same law has not yet entered into force.

As a result, it is still difficult to say how great Trump’s chances of winning this confrontation are, especially considering all the nuances of the relationship between Twitter and many other social networks with the former US president.
