Cable Internet: New Vodafone Station supports Wi-Fi 6

The new Vodafone Station, which enables Internet over the Vodafone cable network in the GigaCable Max tariff with up to 1 Gbit / s in the downlink and 50 Mbit / s in the uplink, now supports Wi-Fi 6 (formerly IEEE 802.11ax). But customers can also get the new router in smaller tariffs. It starts at 100 Mbit / s.

The prerequisite for the new Vodafone station with Wi-Fi 6, which Vodafone makes available to its customers as a loaner for the entire term of the contract, is at least a “Red Internet & Phone Cable” tariff with 100 Mbit / s. With the latest revision, “even more devices than before can surf stably at the same time,” says Vodafone. The data rate via WLAN is up to 4,800 Mbit / s.

Gigabit at a special price until November

In August, Vodafone had already re-launched the gigabit cable offer, first launched in February 2020, at a promotional price of 39.90 euros per month, 10 euros less than normal. The promotional tariff can be booked through Vodafone and all official partners and sales channels until November 1, 2021.

Wi-Fi 6 not for existing customers for the time being

In the ComputerBase forum community, the question of switching routers to the new model for existing customers quickly arose, which is why the editorial team checked again in this regard.

When asked, Vodafone informed the editors that “a change is currently not planned for existing customers”.

The editorial team thanks community member “Holzkopf”, who was the first to point out this issue.
