Beyerdynamic is releasing two new studio headphones, the DT 700 PRO X and the DT 900 PRO X, as well as two new microphones, the M 70 PRO X and the M 90 PRO X. The new PRO series is aimed at “creators”, but is intended to be in be the right choice for every situation, whether on the go, at home or in the studio. It promises unadulterated sound.

DT 700 Pro X and DT 900 Pro X

With the new DT 700 Pro X and DT 900 Pro X, beyerdynamic is again offering an open (DT 900 Pro X) and a closed version (DT 700 Pro X) of the headphones. While the DT 700 Pro X is to be used at home and on the move on mobile devices, the DT 900 Pro X is primarily designed for professional listening, mixing and mastering.

A new sound transducer called STELLAR.45, developed and produced in Heilbronn, is responsible for the sound. A strong neodymium magnet and a lightweight voice coil made of copper-clad high-tech wire are intended to ensure rapid response and detailed signal reproduction, with beyerdynamic promising a sound without distortion even at high sound pressure levels. The three-layer loudspeaker membrane with an integrated damping layer has also been newly developed. The impedance of the driver system is 48 ohms.

Both models are supplied with two mini XLR cables of different lengths – 1.8 and 3.0 meters – which can also be exchanged for other connection options. A gold-plated stereo jack plug for 3.5 mm and an adapter for 6.35 mm are included in the delivery. The gray velor ear pads and the memory foam in the headband should ensure a comfortable fit. The spring steel frame construction should guarantee a long service life. Almost all parts of the DT 700 Pro X and DT 900 Pro X can also be exchanged, if necessary, in order not to have to replace the entire set of headphones.

Beyerdynamic specifies the frequency response for both models as 5 to 40,000 Hz, the sound pressure level @ 1 mW / 500 Hz with 100 dB SPL and the sound pressure level @ 1 V / 500 Hz with 114 dB SPL. The highest short-term load capacity is 100 mW, the highest rated load capacity (continuous operation) 30 mW. The distortion factor @ 1 mW is 0.40% @ 100 Hz, 0.05% @ 500 Hz or 0.04% @ 1 kHz. The weight of the DT 700 Pro X is 350 grams, the DT 900 Pro X is 354 grams.
