System requirements: Deathloop wants at least six cores

Bethesda names detailed system requirements for Deathloop, which include resolution and frame rates. The bad news: Even for 1080p with low details, the computer next to the screen can only be moderately antique. Among other things, it should be six cores.

The system requirements stated for 1080p at 30 frames per second and low detail settings look like what is recommended more often elsewhere. The Ryzen 5 1600 and Core i5-8400 are not brand new, but they are equipped with six cores each. For this, 12 gigabytes of RAM must be available. The graphics card also needs performance. GeForce GTX 1060 in the 6 GB version and Radeon RX 580 are still viable products in the entry-level category.

More beautiful needs faster

The recommended configuration relates Bethesda to a gaming experience with 1080p, but 60 frames per second and high detail settings. The specified Intel i7-9700K has eight cores and has a higher clock frequency than the minimal model. AMD’s Ryzen 7 2700X also has a higher clock rate and two cores, the model has 16 threads.

For this playback mode you also need an AMD Radeon RX 5700 or Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060, the successors of the two aforementioned graphics cards – a still viable mid-range choice. The storage requirement remains within the norm at 16 gigabytes of RAM, and for installation – as is now common – an SSD instead of an HDD can be used.

UHD with 60 FPS demands the hardware

The need for CPU performance for the ultra-detail level, 60 frames per second and UHD resolution increases even more. AMD’s Ryzen 7 3800XT with increased per MHz performance and a Core i9-10900K with ten cores should not necessarily need it despite the recommendation, because especially in this high resolution, the graphics card is the limiting factor for the desired frame rate – computer base will test this in benchmarks at the start of sales on September 14th. The GPU recommendations for UHD Radeon RX 6800 XT (test) and GeForce RTX 3080 (test) are expected from the current high-end class.

The rendered resolution can also be scaled up. For this purpose, AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution (test) is on the feature list.
