Heating control: Todo brings heating cost forecast in real time

Tado extends the function of the smart heating control and shows the energy consumption and heating costs in real time in the Tado app. The aim is to make the savings brought about by functions such as geofencing and window-open detection tangible and avoid surprises in the annual heating bill.

The new function, with which users can view and manage their heating costs and energy consumption live in the app, will be introduced gradually for selected user groups this heating season. All Tado users with an Auto-Assist subscription can use the cost forecast tool to set temperatures and the above-mentioned energy-saving functions so that the level of heating costs corresponds to their personal preferences and comfort.

If, for example, the room temperature is reduced by one degree Celsius, this already has enormous effects and results in energy savings of around 6 percent. Deactivating the heating when nobody is at home, which Tado can use geofencing to link to the position of the smartphone, can have an even greater impact on heating costs if nobody is at home during the day. The influence of the window-open detection is less, but it also helps to reduce heating costs and protect the environment. Thanks to the cost forecast for the current month, which is immediately visible every time the settings are changed, users can adapt their heating costs to their needs in real time.

Tado links the temperature and app settings with analog or smart meter data as well as with intelligent algorithms. In addition to an overview of heating consumption, the new software also shows potential savings and gives users tips and advice on how to be more efficient and lower heating costs.

It has not been announced when the delivery of the new cost forecast will be completed for all users with an Auto-Assist subscription.
