Audi announced the Grandsphere concept sedan in July, and the prototype is now fully declassified. The car with a length of 5.35 m turned out to be longer than the current Audi A8 – it is not difficult to guess which model Grandsphere is based on.
The concept is built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) electric platform and is equipped with two electric motors with a total power of 720 hp. and a torque of 960 Nm. The capacity of the traction battery is 120 kWh, so the declared maximum mileage is quite decent 750 km. The dynamics are also good: acceleration to 100 km / h is about 4 s. The car supports fast charging: 10 minutes of connecting to a 270 kW charging station gives 300 km of run.
The design of the car is original, this applies to both the exterior and the interior. Inside – a steering wheel flattened at the top and bottom, a virtual instrument panel and a large head-up display, the latest version of the proprietary MMI Touchless Response multimedia system, as well as finishing with natural materials – wood, metal and wool. The eco-theme is accentuated by a planter placed between the front and back rows.
Audi Grandsphere is assigned an autopilot of the fourth level – the car on most roads and surfaces will be able to move independently. The car does not claim serial status, if such a model will be on the conveyor, it will only be in 2024. The main thing that Grandsphere should demonstrate is the direction of development of the company’s flagship electric vehicles. Both in terms of design and capabilities.
